Do I need to book tickets in advance?
It’s always a good idea to book your ticket in advance as we are a small theatre and our shows are often sold out.
Will my tickets be sent out to me?
We do not normally send tickets by post – the tickets will be waiting for you to collect at the box office.
Do I need to print out my email confirmation?
You need to be able to show us your email confirmation on your phone or tablet, or print it out.
I haven’t received an email confirmation, what should I do?
If you’ve booked online, you should receive two emails: one from PayPal confirming payment and one from the Puppet Barge confirming your booking. If you have not received either or both emails, you should contact the box office on 020 7249 6876.
If you’ve booked with the box office over the phone, you should have received a text or email confirmation to say that your payment has been processed. If you have not received a text or email, you should contact the box office on 020 7249 6876.
What time does the Puppet Barge open before a performance?
Doors open 30 minutes before each performance.
What time should I arrive for a performance?
It is always advisable to arrive no less than 15 minutes before the performance starts so that you can collect your tickets and find your seat.
Is it allocated seating?
Yes. We try to ensure that children are not sitting behind adults, so when you arrive, one of the puppeteers will show you to your allocated seat.
Do you have anywhere to store buggies/scooters?
Scooters and buggies are stored on deck at the owners’ risk.
Do you allow entry to latecomers?
We reserve the right to refuse entry to latecomers. However, if there is a suitable break in the performance, we will try to get you seated.
Do you allow people to bring babies to performances?
We do allow people to bring babies to performances. However, if you are bringing a baby, we ask you to phone or email us to let us know. Obviously if your baby cries, you need to take it out of the auditorium so as not to disturb other audience members.
Do you charge for babies and toddlers?
We only charge from 2 years upwards.
Is my ticket transferable?
All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Is the barge heated?
The barge has central heating and is very cosy during the winter, but in exceptionally cold weather, it’s as well to bring an extra layer, just in case.
Is there is a toilet on the Puppet Barge?
There is a boat toilet on the barge, but it is a delicate piece of equipment, so please don’t put anything down it other than the paper provided.
Is the Puppet Barge always in Little Venice?
The Puppet Barge spends most of the year in Little Venice, but every summer between mid-July and mid-October it is moored in Richmond – please check carefully on the website before setting out.
Does the barge move during the performance?
No. The barge is moored up for the duration of the performance.
Is it possible to park near the Puppet Barge in Little Venice?
On Saturday & Sundays (and Bank Holidays), you are free to park in any of the bays or the single yellow lines on Blomfield Road. At other times, there are Westminster Pay-to- Park bays on Blomfield Road and Warwick Avenue (3min walk).
Do you sell food and drink?
We offer hot and cold drinks and a selection of sweets.
Do you sell alcohol?
The Puppet Barge does not have a licence to sell alcohol, but you are welcome to bring some with you to consume on the premises.
Is there anywhere to eat in the Little Venice area?
The nearest café is the Waterside Café, which is on a traditional narrow boat on the other side of the water in Little Venice (2min walk). There are also two pubs close by: the Warwick Castle, Warwick Place, and the Bridge House pub on Westbourne Terrace Rd (both 2min walk).
Is there anywhere to eat near the Puppet Barge when it’s in Richmond?
The Hollyhock Café in the Terrace Gardens is the nearest place (3min walk). Stein’s is a Bavarian beer garden on the towpath (3min walk), which is only open in good weather. The Rose of York pub is south on Petersham Road (5min walk).
