"The scale of puppetry forces you to surrender your

imagination in a way that flesh and blood actors

          never could."                                            THE GUARDIAN

  Charming, witty puppetry and storytelling"

"A sunny afternoon on the Richmond towpath, a few

minutes before the Puppet Theatre Barge unlocks its

gate. A small boy holds tightly to his sister, an obvious

veteran, who reassures him it’s fun and not that scary.

Another girl holds her grandfather’s hand, eyes on the

gate, a picture of excited reverence. In the conversations

of the adults, too, there’s a floating sense of significance.

Climbing onto the barge, I’m reminded why I could never

separate my memory of the venue from the performance:

you’re climbing into the sense of storytelling, and you stay

hooked. First up was Captain Grimey, and all ages were

instantly charmed and convinced in one short journey of

his ship, sailing from one side of the stage to the other."
